Alfred Bast

Born in 1948 in the town of Schwäbisch Gmünd in Germany
Apprenticeship as type setter.
Studies at the University of Design Schwäbisch Gmünd (HFG) with Professor Nikolaus Plump and Professor Alfred Lutz.
Pursues studies of painting at the state academy of fine arts in Stuttgart with Prof. Gerhard Gollwitzer, Prof. Peter Grau and Prof. Gottfried von Stockhausen.

Scholarships of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg (Arts Foundation Baden-Württemberg), Atelierhausstipiendium Worpswede, Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (German Academic Scholarship Foundation), scholarships for stays abroad in Pondichery, South-India.
Stays in the U.S., Hungary, Canada, and as artist in residence at the Goethe-Institute in Tbilisi, Georgia and in Dakar, Senegal in Africa.

1995, founds the initiative KUNSTKLOSTER art research.
Exhibitions, seminars, performances, talks and publications: international, national and regional.

Works as a freelancer since 1975.

Lives and works in Abtsgmünd-Hohenstadt, Baden-Württemberg and in Berlin, and is blessed with two children and four grandchildren.
